New Feathered Additions to my Family

I adopted budgies Spinner and Jason (Jase) from Mickaboo Cockatiel Rescue
on April 2nd. They are both "Special Needs" budgies - which is good because
I had "special need" of budgie chatter in my household after losing my two
budgie sweeties, Magic and Dylan, last October and January.

Spinner, a vibrant green and yellow gal, is splay legged. Her legs stick straight
out sideways from her body. Originally this was thought to be the result of an
accident but it was later determined to be a genetic abnormality. Spinner has
adapted amazingly and seems to have no concept that she is disabled in any way.
She climbs or flies from rope perch to rope perch, swings from one foot from
the top of the cage and "swims" along the bottom with absolutely incredible speed.

Jase, a gorgeous aquamarine fella, had a tumor on his preen gland. Surgery
was performed to remove it and he has recovered wonderfully. His prognosis
is a promising one! Jase is totally devoted to his dear featherlove Spinner,
and she to him. Watching these two together is good for the heart!!

Slightly blurry look at how Spinner balances herself
using the side of the cage and a rope perch.

Jase is a bit wary of that camera gadget!

Finished with a bout of preening, Spinner
contemplates the thought of a snooze ...

... and decides that's a mighty fine idea!!

Spinner and Jase are never far apart for long ...

... and spend a lot of time preening each other!

Here is a shot that shows Spinner's splayed legs.
Her pink legs do indeed stick straight out to the side,
and her left foot is bent downwards at an odd angle.
Spinner's spirit is indomitable, however, and she isn't
letting anything stop her from enjoying life to the fullest!!
